Verne decides that to keep the humans from killing them, he must return to food. RJ leads the animals on more raids, prompting Gladys to call the Verminator, a man who exterminates animals. They then flee as Gladys arrives, who starts to believe that the animals are vermin that are spreading infections. He then realizes he is nude and puts his shell on. He falls off and the girls see his naked butt and flee. Verne comes to help but ends up flying out of his shell and onto one of the girl's face. When the two girls who have the wagon see Hammy, they start to attack him, hitting him with a BOOK and spraying him.
SQUIRREL FROM OVER THE HEDGE FULL
The next day, RJ uses Hammy's help to get a wagon full of cookies by making Hammy pretend to have rabies. This causes Verne to by wary of the humans. Verne is uninterested, but the others agree and during the night, they eat the leftover food inside a GARBAGE CAN, but a woman named Gladys Sharp arrives and chases them off. It is then that RJ the Raccoon appears and reveals what Steve is actually called, before telling the animals of all the food that the humans have. Verne goes to the other end of the hedge and becomes victim to several accidents such as getting sprayed by a hose and hit by a hockey stick, sending him flying over the hedge. They then hear Steve talking. (really a woman behind the hedge). Not knowing what it is, they name it Steve. As Verne and the others eat berries they have found, Hammy the Squirrel sees a hedge and brings the other animals to it. Verne and the other animals have woken up from hibernation. After RJ saves them at the end, he gives up his place as leader to RJ whom he has finally accepted into their family. He is best known for his vibrating butt when a situation is not right, he uses that as a sign to back off. He is genuinely caring for his family and will do anything to protect them. He never really trusted RJ (and he was kind of right for not trusting him). He has his own ways of doing the daily tasks which everyone else goes for, but his world is turned upside down when RJ introduces his chaotic lifestyle into the mix. He does not have much emotion when he talks. The animals are not prepared for the humans' ferocious desire to protect their stuff, however, and soon the dastardly exterminator ( Thomas Haden Church) arrives, armed with traps and weapons.Verne is "naturally tentative" box turtle, who is the leader of the foragers. In this new world, "the grass is greener," and the acorn-munching kids discover the great tastes they've been missing: cheese dust, pizza, donuts, and Girl Scout cookies. So it's not long before everyone scampering into the well-appointed abode of Homeowners' Association President Gladys ( Allison Janney). But the raccoon is shrewd, and the scenario he lays out - all food, all the time - is mighty tempting. While Hammy the squirrel (Steve Carell), shy skunk Stella (Wanda Sykes), and Ozzie, a possum (William Shatner), are easily won over by RJ's scheme, timid tortoise Verne (Garry Shandling) frets that RJ is not to be trusted. RJ hatches a plan to steal convenience foods from recently installed suburban dwellers. Awakened and annoyed, the bear threatens to kill RJ unless he replaces all the missing items (they're smooshed in a traffic accident). This animated animal adventure gets rolling when RJ the raccoon (voiced by Bruce Willis) steals a little red wagon full of treats from a hibernating bear, Vincent ( Nick Nolte).
